Is online teaching an option for me?

  1. Hello! I took the quiz and scored a 100%. I am actually trying to get my class into the online teaching mode. I'm starting this with a classroom Wiki. I also post ALL assignments on Echalk and communicate with them via email. I really enjoy it and do believe it is as effective as face-to-face teaching. An important role as the teacher is the time and dedication one has to offer to make it a successful online learning environment.

  2. Teaching online is one of the options I am looking at when it is time to start a new career (retirement from firefighting). This blog will definitely be a resource to keep an eye on.

  3. I took the quiz and scored 80% and I know why! I like the convenience of the online courses but I really do miss the face-to-face. I don't feel that I really know anyone even though I've had classes with some of you! If I could figure out a way to make the classes more personable and interactive with each other, I would love to teach online. So any suggestions would be welcome!

  4. Hey, I scored a 92% here too. I like the online setting, and I think that great learning happens and can happen in online courses. I just cant wait till we have fiber to the desktop technology deployed everywhere, or at least something compareable. With today's multimedia teaching tools, the only drawback to a successfull online experience is a slow connection to the internet.

  5. Tamara, I can understand the desire to have face-to-face teaching...have you considered something like video conferencing to keep that face-to-face feeling. I know it's not exactly the same but you can at least put a face to the name and see expressions as you would if they were sitting in front of you. Just a thought..
